In Process
Dear Friends and Family,
I'm writing a short update to say that I'm in the middle of the application process with Encompass! I am applying to be a long-term worker with them and to join the team in Osaka, Japan.
I invite you to pray with me in this process. For those who have been asking what the application process practically looks like, here are some of the things I am doing/working on over the next few weeks:
A personality/strengths/skills test that takes 5 different assessments and helps me evaluate them all together to learn more about myself. I will also be meeting with a coach soon.
A psychological assessment and meeting with a psychologist.
Many zoom meetings with Encompass staff, including the deployment and training teams, member care, network director, and the finance department. They are getting to know me better, and helping me build my ministry plan as well as a budget.
References from friends, mentors, church, and employers.
I was encouraged by Encompass to not see these only as steps to do or things to check off a list, but rather an ongoing conversation where we can get to know each other better - and I can even get to know myself better!
I am hopeful to finish the application by the end of December or by January, and begin partner development in early 2024. While I am working diligently toward this goal, I also don't want to rush the process. I will keep you all updated when the time comes to begin seeking out monthly financial partners.
In the meantime, please consider partnering with me in prayer. Japan is not an easy place to go, and I am reminded that the enemy does not want believers entering into his territory. There have recently been people on this pathway to Japan who (for various reasons) decided to remain in the States for now, and also people serving in Japan who are now transitioning back to the States. Spiritual warfare plays a part in this, and prayer and God's protection are essential if we are going to see the gospel advance in Japan. Another way you can also pray is for the team in Osaka, and for more teammates, specifically other single people!
As a side note, I will be visiting Michigan for the holidays (mid December - mid January), and hope to see many friends and family during that time! If you're in Michigan and would like to see me while I'm home, please reach out!
