Join Me on an Adventure!
As many of you know, I will be leaving for Japan in about a month! I'm super excited about this opportunity, and I would love to share some specifics of what I'll be doing while I'm there!
What: I am participating in an internship through Sunrise International Ministries and the Thomson family, who I met on my previous trip to Japan! I'll receive training from them, grow in my relationship with Jesus, learn more about the Japanese culture and language, and engage in relational outreach. Outreach includes teaching English classes and helping with community events, all with a focus on relationships. If you want more information, you can click here: http://thomsontimes.com/internship/
Where: I will be living in Sanda, Japan. Sanda is a suburban community of about 127,000 people, located in southern Japan between the larger cities of Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto. I will be staying in a 3-story house near the Thomsons, along with two other interns. When I was there last fall, I made many friends who I can't wait to see again!
When: I'm leaving January 17th, 2017, and coming home April 18th.
Why: The purpose and goal of this trip is to join a local ministry, and to explore long-term options in Japan. While I'm there I will be praying about long-term mission work in Japan, to see if God is leading me to go back full-time.
Who: The leaders of this outreach are Peter and Wendi Thomson, who have been missionaries in Japan for 28 years with Sunrise International. They started an English school as a point of contact in their community, and they also partner with local Japanese Christians to plant new churches. Their 4 children were all born and raised in Japan. I spent a delightful month with them last year, and I'm super excited to learn from them and work with them again!
I will also be living and serving with two of my teammates from the World Race, Niki and James. The three of us are doing the internship together!
How YOU can be a part:
First of all, you can pray! I would love your prayers, as I am thinking and praying about full-time mission work in Japan. Also please pray for the Japanese people, as their culture is desperately in need of the hope Jesus can bring.
Secondly, you can follow me through this blog or on Facebook - I will do my best to write updates while I am there!
Lastly, this trip will cost me a total of $4,500. With current donations, as well as working and saving some of my own finances, I'm still in need of $800. THANK YOU if you have already given! If you would like to give, just click the 'Support Me' button on this page. It will take you to my church's website, where you can donate online. Please click on the red GIVE button and put my name in the memo so they know it goes to me!
Thank you so much for taking time to read!
Have a very merry Christmas,
Allana
